Local Series

**Update! Local Series events are currently under review**

Throughout the year the AGJC holds various events which aims to bring Junior Glider pilots together to elevate their enjoyment of the sport  and to further their develop their skills.

Each AJGC state area (and its representative) holds at least one "Local Series" event per year. The Local Series has been designed as a mechanism to bring like-minded young pilots together for typically a whole weekend, to further their flying skills and hang out with other juniors.

COVID-19 affected our ability to hold and run JoeyGlide 2020 and two local series events in QLD and Victoria were staged in January 2021. These events enabled juniors to fly, whilst maintaining the fun, social environment that a JoeyGlide brings. Check out the QLD Junior Regatta Videos at the bottom of this page!

A list of the Local Series events can be found using the drop-down box on the navigation bar of this website, under "Local Series".

What is it

The AJGC’s Local Series is an informal series of junior gliding events run in each state, each year. These events run over a weekend or a single day. Some examples of Local Series formats are:

·   Cross-country coaching weekends

·   Aerobatics training days

·   AEF ‘come and try’ days

·   Ridge camps

·   Fun flying days

·   Mini competitions or Grand Prix

·   Trivia nights or social evenings

·   Almost anything else…

Who is responsible?

The AJGC state representative’s role is to facilitate at least one Local Series event in their region each year. The state representative generally has freedom to run any format they like, provided the committee agrees that it is a good idea.

Objectives

1. Attract and engage new and existing juniors in each state.

2. Foster mateship amongst participants.

3. Provide an opportunity for participants to have fun.

4. Provide an opportunity for participants to learn something new.

5. Minimise cost to participants.

6. 6. Seek to include a diverse range of juniors (and their supporters).
