Previous Competitions
One of the greatest feats a competition pilot can achieve is representing their country in international competitions. Many Juniors have put enormous effort into making it through the ranks and attaining this great honour.
2017
10TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
In 2017, we had three junior pilots compete in the Junior World Gliding Championships in Lithuania.
Dylan Lampard competed in Standard class, with Reuben Lane and Ailsa McMillan in Club class. Ailsa took out the highest place for the Aussies with a final placing of 14th, next was Dylan in 21st and Reuben in 22nd.
2015
9TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
In 2015, we had six junior pilots compete in the Junior World Gliding Championships in Narromine, NSW.
Matthew Scutter, Dylan Lampard and Ailsa McMillan competed in Standard class, with James Nugent, Eric Stauss and Joe O'Donnell in Club class. Matthew took out the highest place for the Aussies with a final placing of 1st, next was James in 5th, Eric in 12th, Ailsa in 13th, Dylan in 14th and Joe in 21st.
2013
8TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
In 2013, we had three junior pilots compete in the Junior World Gliding Championships in Leszno, Poland.
Matthew Scutter and Eric Stauss competed in Standard class and Ailsa McMillan in Club class. Matthew took out the highest place for the Aussies with a final placing of 9th, next Eric with a placing of 34th, and then Ailsa with 37th.
2011
7TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Australia was represented by 4 pilots at the 7th FAI Junior World Gliding Championships in 2011. Brothers Andy Maddocks and Nick Maddocks competed in standard class, and Nathan Johnson and Matthew Scutter competed in Club Class.
2009
6TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Andrew Maddocks and Nathan Johnson both represented Australia at the 2009 Junior Worlds. Andy competed in Standard Class, finishing 10th overall. Nathan flew Club Class in an LS4, placing 38th.
2005
4TH FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
At the 2005 Junior Worlds both Adam Woolley and David McManus represented Australia. Both pilots competed in Standard Class, placing 15th and 26th respectively.
1999
1ST FAI JUNIOR WORLD GLIDING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Lisa Turner flew for Australia at the first ever Junior World Championships. Lisa competed in Club Class, flying a Std Libelle and finishing in 22nd place.
