Welcome to Australian Junior Soaring!

This website is designed by juniors, for juniors. Whether you are thinking about taking up the sport or you are a well-seasoned pilot, this site is for you. Here you will find background information on gliding, as well as details on upcoming events, the Australian Junior Gliding Club, opportunities for sponsorship and plenty more. Have a look around then head to your nearest club to enjoy it for yourself!

The Australian Junior Gliding Club (AJGC) was formed in 2007 by a group of junior pilots who wanted a way of connecting juniors throughout the country. The main aim of the club is to assist and encourage junior pilots in Australia. This can mean anything from helping someone with their initial training to providing assistance to the Australian team heading out to the Junior Worlds.

Just to name a few ways in which the club helps out, it owns an Astir CS single seat glider suitable for early solo pilots, offers financial sponsorship to pilots wishing to improve their gliding and organises the Junior National Championships (JoeyGlide) every year. The AJGC also runs a heavily subsidised coaching week alongside these nationals for pilots who are looking to make the move from gliding to cross country soaring.

Our Vision and Values

Vision

“To support and facilitate young Australians in realising their potential and maximise their enjoyment in gliding.”

Values

Soaring with the Eagles

Gliding is the closest any human can come to soaring like a bird. By using the energy generated from air currents, a glider can stay airborne for more than 10 hours and cover more than 1000km in a single flight!
